Principal Data Engineer – Galway

Our financial services client with offices in Galway and who recently awarded as Best Place to Work for 2023 are looking for a Principal Data Engineer.   This is an excellent company with top of the range tech stack and who offer a very flexible hybrid working model.   
 
As Principal Data Engineer this job involves adopting a test first approach, document design options and decisions, building, crafting and reviewing code, calling out issues, and collaborating with the wider team.
 
Key Skills for the job are:

• 7+ years’ experience as software engineer, delivering software using agile SDLC and promoting CI / CD engineering practices
• Exposure to building solutions for data warehouse and experience in working with large data set
• Database knowledge, i.e. RDBMS Oracle/PLSQL, OODB, ODS, Warehouse, Cloud AWS
• Data movement and ETL experience
• Experience with Python development and python packages such as Pandas and NumP
• Bachelor's degree (or above) in a quantitative or computational field such as Statistics, Computer Science or Applied Mathematic

 
In this job as Principle Data Engineer you will work in an AWS/Azure cloud environment using Snowflake and a mix of other tools.   This job offers excellent full paid pension, generous bonus, health insurance and excellent career progression.
