Our client, a leading independent Home & Hardware store in Ireland, is seeking a Plumbing and Heating Department Manager to oversee all aspects of their Plumbing and Heating Department. As the Plumbing and Heating Department Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving sales, developing new business, and ensuring the smooth daily operations of the department. Reporting to the Trade Manager and working closely with the existing external sales team, you will be responsible for managing the department, achieving sales and margin targets, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of the Plumbing and Heating department, including buying, stock levels, and margins.
• Drive sales and achieve sales and margin targets for the department.
• Develop and maintain a first-class plumbing and heating center, catering to trade, commercial, and retail customers.
• Build effective working relationships with customers and the existing sales team to understand their requirements and provide suitable product solutions.
• Maintain high standards of customer service, ensuring efficient and effective handling of customer inquiries and concerns.
• Proactively identify sales opportunities and offer advice and solutions to maximize sales.
• Complete quotations in a timely manner and ensure follow-through within the department.
• Take responsibility for re-ordering selected product lines and maintaining optimal stock levels.
• Stay updated on new product ranges for display and sale.
• Maintain a clean and well-merchandised counter/department.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Substantial experience working within the Plumbing and Heating Industry.
• Strong commercial and strategic acumen.
• Demonstrated ability to reach and exceed sales targets.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Strong negotiation skills and proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in the merchanting and/or construction sector (desirable).
• People management experience (desirable).
• Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
