E-Frontiers are delighted to share that we have achieved the status of being carbon neutral.
We worked together with www.climatepartners.com to neutralise our carbon emissions by taking on carbon offset projects.
Calculate, reduce, offset – these are the crucial steps that need to be taken to tackle climate change.
CALCULATE: The starting point for any climate action starts with the calculation: A company that knows its carbon footprint also knows which parts of its business cause emissions and how high the emissions are. A carbon footprint helps companies to understand which areas have the greatest potential for change.
For us at E-Frontiers, the largest proportion of our carbon footprint was on the mode of transport used in our work commute, our energy use both in the office and when working from home, company flights, and the type of laptop used.
REDUCE -We endeavoured to make positive changes where possible and reduced non-essential travel, changed some patterns of energy consumption, and switched away from using desktops in favour of more energy-efficient laptops.
OFFSET PROJECT – Clean Oceans, Plastic Bank, Worldwide
This is the offset project E-Frontiers focused on. Over 8 million tons of plastic waste end up in the sea every year. Especially in developing countries that often lack infrastructure for proper waste disposal.
The aim of this project is to reduce ocean plastic while improving the lives of those who are most affected. In Haiti, Indonesia, Brazil, and the Philippines, people collect plastic waste. At local collection points, they can exchange it for money, food, drinking water, or even school fees. The project makes sure that less plastic ends up in the sea. Instead, it is recycled and turned into so-called Social Plastic, which serves as raw material for new products such as packaging.
Carbon offset projects contribute to combating global warming by demonstrably saving greenhouse gases. These projects can range from forest conservation, reforestation, or the development of renewable energy. In addition, carbon offset projects promote sustainable development in the project countries, for example by improving access to clean drinking water, expanding local infrastructure, creating jobs, or preserving biodiversity.
Carbon offset projects must satisfy internationally recognized criteria. projects are certified and audited according to strict standards. One of the most important requirements is that these projects are additional climate action measures and that their contribution to carbon reduction is clearly measurable.
At E-Frontiers, we made small changes. Everybody. Every day.
These have become the rules we live by as a company. Every small change matters. All companies can play their part to help achieve this common global goal for humanity. We at E-Frontiers will continue to work hard in 2023 to lower our carbon emissions and expand on our climate actions.
